Palau is also the ideal starting point for excursions to the nearby island of La Maddalena. Just a stone's throw from the town, the most spectacular stretch of coastline, the Roccia dell'Orso (Bear Rock) rises over 120 meters high from the sea. The bizarrely shaped granite formation resembles a bear. The natural monument can be reached on a footpath from the town center. Palau is also considered a surfer's and beach paradise with excellent water quality. Olbia airport is 38 minutes (37 km) by car from the vacation home.
